Bibliophile Collective Book Club
February Book Club in Review
Thank you to everyone who attended our first book club at Bibliotheque on Thursday! Everyone had fantastic selections for the theme, obsession, and it was amazing to hear why the books were picked, what feelings they evoked, and whether our perspectives on obsession were altered by reading the works. By the end of the evening, we all wanted to add every book to our lists!
All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker
Dead Weight by Emmeline Clein
Big Swiss by Jen Beagin
Bibliophobia: A Memoir by Sarah Chihaya
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

Upcoming Independent Bookstore Events

Bookish Podcasts to Start the Day
This month’s podcasts focus on bringing people together and highlighting bestsellers. The Brooklyn Public Library’s podcast was a personal favorite, shining the spotlight on library bookclubs and the positive impact they have on the community.
NPR’s Book of the Day: With Dare I Say It, Naomi Watts aims to help menopausal women feel less alone
The Waterstone’s Podcast: Han Kang (We Do Not Part)
BBC Bookclub: Richard Osman (The Thursday Murder Club)
Brooklyn Public Library’s Borrowed: Why We Still Read Together - The Joy of Book Clubs
I recently watched Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold, a documentary about the course of Didion’s life and career, directed by her nephew Griffin Dunne. The film features readings of her written work throughout, coinciding with the events taking place in her life at the time the book or essay was written. It is a beautiful tribute to her legacy and I enjoyed every moment.
If documentaries are your thing (and books are too) I would also recommend The Booksellers, which highlights antiquarian booksellers in New York City. Featuring interviews with some of the most well-known dealers in the business and renowned writers, like Fran Lebowitz, the film is a true celebration of book culture.

John Green is writing nonfiction. Haymitch Abernathy is finally getting his own book. Cassandra Clare is releasing the second installment in her first adult fantasy series. This month is full of milestones! And they belong on your TBR, or your Kindle, or your library request list…
