Each month, Turn the Page will highlight upcoming literary events at local bookstores, book-related media, exciting book releases, and announce the next book club theme.
Bibliophile Collective Book Club
Overview: Hosted at New York City restaurants and event spaces, the Bibliophile Collective Book Club will focus on themes in literature instead of a specific book. Each month, a theme will be selected and book club members are encouraged to select a book which they feel connects to the theme. The books can fall into any genre: from nonfiction to fantasy to a collection of essays. At gatherings, we will share the books each member selected, discuss connections to the overall theme, and leave with a list full of recommendations (and new friends!).
February Book Club Theme: Obsession
February is all about love and adoration… but what if we take our infatuation too far? This month’s book club theme is obsession. Literature focused on obsession has captured the minds of readers across genres, whether it is devotion to a specific individual, fixation on vanity to the point of destruction, or rumination on an idea until it bleeds into all aspects of life.
RSVP Here: February Book Club
When: Thursday, February 27th @ 7:15pm
Where: Bibliothèque in SoHo
This month’s book club destination is Bibliothèque, a bookstore cafe and wine bar in the heart of SoHo. The space features over 10,000 new, old, rare, and accessible books! Join us for delicious food from New York’s Épicerie Boulud and one glass of wine from their extensive wine list.
Some potential picks for this month’s theme could be…
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The Girls by Emma Cline
Want by Gillian Anderson
Rouge by Mona Awad
You by Caroline Kepnes
Looking forward to seeing your picks (and adding them to my ever-growing TBR)!
