March Book Club in Review
Thank you to everyone who attended this month’s book club at Happy Medium on Thursday! Everyone had a wonderful selection (or two!) for the theme celebrating Women’s History Month: soul sisters. We created collages while conversing about why we selected our books and whether our perspectives on sisterhood and female friendship were altered by reading the works. By the end of the evening, we all wanted to add every book to our lists!
The Alternatives by Caoilinn Hughes
The Women by Kristin Hannah
Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney
The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros
The Sisterhood: The Secret History of Women of the CIA by Liza Mundy
My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult
My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
April Book Club: Off the Beaten Shelf
In honor of Independent Bookstore Day on April 26th, the April book club theme is off the beaten shelf, celebrating independent book publishers and their incredible publications. Independent publishers highlight the art of literary discovery, diverse voices, and media outside of the mainstream. Join us as we discuss unique stories published by creative trailblazers!

When: Saturday April 26th @ 11:00am
Where: Independent Bookstore Day - Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl
This month’s book club will be a little different… In honor of Independent Bookstore Day, we will be participating in the Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl! Last year, some friends and I participated in the day’s events and it was an absolute blast. I am looking forward to sharing the experience with you and discussing your independently published book selections.
Check out these independent publishers to find your book club pick this month:
If you are looking to order your book for this month online, I would encourage you to order from Bookshop.org which connects readers with independent booksellers. On the website, you can select which independent bookstore you would like to support with your purchase, select your book of choice, and it will be shipped directly to you! This is a wonderful way to support independent bookstores while shopping from home.
Looking forward to seeing your picks (and adding them to my ever-growing TBR)!

Bookish Podcasts to Start the Day
This month’s podcasts highlight authors of new releases as they provide unique insight into their work. I particularly enjoyed the episode of What Should I Read Next? in which the host discusses how one’s reading taste can ebb and flow throughout their literary life, and reminds us that we can read the books we are excited about and not only the books that “everyone else is reading”.
Waterstone’s Podcast: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Dream Count)
NYT Book Review: Book Club - Let’s Talk about Orbital, by Samantha Harvey
Poured Over - The Barnes & Noble Podcast: Laila Lalami on The Dream Hotel
