Book Lover's Guide to Cambridge, MA
Spend an afternoon exploring the cozy corners of Cambridge, MA.
This past weekend, I spent an afternoon exploring cozy corners for bookworms in Cambridge, MA. Add these spots to your Boston bucket list for your next visit!
Harvard Book Store
Harvard Book Store was established in 1932, and is locally owned and independently run. They carry a wide selection of new and used books, and regularly host amazing author events among the towering shelves. For the month of February they are offering a “blind date with a book,” where they have wrapped some hidden gems from their used book section and provided one-sentence descriptions of the books, encouraging readers to not judge books by their covers. With sliding ladders, curated table selections, and knowledgeable booksellers, the store is a must-visit for book lovers.
Faro Cafe
Faro Cafe is your “friendly, light-hearted and a little bit irreverent new coffee spot” in Harvard Square. This laptop-free space encourages connection with a calm atmosphere, warm drinks, and kind staff. Faro is the perfect spot to meet up with friends to discuss your latest read or spend an afternoon sipping matcha on a solo date. The goal of the cafe is to bring people together, and they do so through hosting events with live music, skill sharing, and pop-up art exhibitions. If I lived in Boston, I would be here every weekend!
Lovestruck Books
Lovestruck Books opened this past December as Cambridge’s first romance bookstore. Carrying books of every trope and time period, Lovestruck’s staff have curated a selection which “celebrates love in all its forms.” This shop not only caters to all your romance needs (including a variety of romantic merchandise), but is also a great spot to grab a warm beverage or glass of wine. Lovestruck offers cafe seating to enjoy the coffee and wine bar while chatting with friends or falling head over heels with your literary soulmate.
Harvard University
To take a break between bookshops, I would recommend a stroll through historic Harvard campus. Harvard University was founded in 1636, and was the first college established in the American colonies. With a blanket of fresh snow and light chill in the air, the campus was beautiful and serene. A lap around the grounds was the perfect way to end the day exploring Cambridge’s local gems.
